Saint Michael: Croatian Police Day is also celebrated in cantons that Čović has claimed as his own

On the feast day of Saint Michael, Police Day is celebrated in the Republic of Croatia. Members of the Ministries of Internal Affairs in Herzegovina-Neretva, West Herzegovina, Central Bosnia, Posavina, and Canton 10 (Livno) have also taken him as their protector, writes the Patria News Agency.  

Thus, on Thursday, September 29, flowers will be laid at the memorial to Croatian defenders in front of the Croatian Home Herceg Stjepan Kosača, followed by a ceremonial academy in the Croatian Home Herceg Stjepan Kosača. Afterwards, a memorial mass is planned.

According to the calendar of the Roman Catholic Church, the feast of St. Michael is celebrated on September 29. Saint Michael is the patron saint of police officers and soldiers, as well as paratroopers and fighter pilots. He is also the patron saint of radiologists. Saint Michael is the patron saint of the old Croatian city of Šibenik, as well as the Croatian Police and the Croatian Army.

By the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, January 9, which is celebrated as the slava of Saint Stephen according to the Orthodox calendar, has been declared unconstitutional as a holiday in the Republika Srpska.

Among other things, it was assessed that it offends the religious and national feelings of Bosniaks, Croats, and others living in the smaller BiH entity.

It is logical to ask whether the celebration of Saint Michael in five cantonal Ministries of Internal Affairs, which is also Croatian Police Day (an official holiday), does not offend the religious and national feelings of Bosniaks, Serbs, and Others who are police officers in these five cantons? What if Bosniaks, for example, chose days from a blessed month and celebrated them as non-working days in the Ministries of Internal Affairs, or Serbs chose one of their saints?

What about Croats employed in the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the remaining five cantons and in the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs? They do not celebrate this Catholic holiday because the policy of HDZ BiH, led by Dragan Čović, decided so.

Precisely these cantons, which the HDZ leader has circled as his own, were found within a "regional police center" on a map drawn during police reform negotiations about ten years ago.

Nothing is accidental. Neither the maps from that time, supported by representatives from Republika Srpska (especially insisted upon by former Minister of Internal Affairs Darko Matijašević), nor the recently held police exercise of three Ministries of Internal Affairs of cantons calling themselves "cantons with a Croatian majority," and now the celebration of a religious holiday.

Čović's policy of division, which he does not hide in his speeches, is clearly visible through the celebration of Saint Michael, although he naturally tries to package everything in "European cellophane."
