Swedish Police Deny SIPA's Claims: Bomb Was Not Intended for Terrorist Attack

Despite initial information suggesting terrorism, Swedish police claim that a bomb made in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and intended for transfer to Sweden was not meant for a terrorist attack, reports the portal mi2.ba, as conveyed by the Patria News Agency.

Following the arrests, media in BiH reported that SIPA arrested 5 individuals on suspicion of terrorism, and it was announced that SIPA was cooperating with police services in the Netherlands and Sweden.

According to information released by SIPA, the suspects were arrested when they attempted to leave BiH with a bomb in their car. Three individuals were arrested at the border, while two more were apprehended in Sarajevo.

The arrested individuals are suspected of having made the bomb in Bosnia and Herzegovina upon order from Sweden, with the plan to deliver the bomb to Sweden.

However, Andreas Fahlen from the Public Relations Department of the Swedish Police told the Swedish newspaper Expressen that all of this has nothing to do with terrorism.

"Everything is connected to criminal gangs in southern Sweden" – said Andreas Fahlen.

According to the Swedish police who participated in the operation, the bomb was not intended for a terrorist attack. According to them, the bomb was ordered by gangs.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no information about the arrests, reports Expressen, quoting Johan Tegel from the ministry's press department:

"We have noticed media reports. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no information about the event, but we will examine the data."
