Sweden: Masked attacker injures five with sword, one dies

Police shot a masked man who injured one adult and four students with a sword at a school in the western Swedish town of Trollhattan, reports the Patria news agency.  

According to initial information, one of the injured suffered serious injuries. Aftonbladet reports that one person died in the hospital.

Police told the TT agency that there was "considerable chaos" at the school.

-We have several injured people, said Stefan Gustafsson from the local police, adding that the condition of the attacker, who is around twenty years old, is unknown.

-We were forced to use our weapons, he was shot, I don't know how seriously he is wounded, he said.

Local hospital spokesperson Niklas Claesson told SVT that five injured people were admitted, one of whom is undergoing surgery due to serious injuries.

-They are young, but not children, he said.

A TTELA photographer at the scene reports "total chaos" at the school. "It was complete chaos. Hundreds of people flocked to the main street next to the school. People were crying and trying to cross the police cordon, which kept the police and guards very busy," he said.
