Sarajevo Canton Police Day Marked with Ceremony

(Patria) - The 6th of April - Sarajevo Canton (SC) Police Day was marked today with a ceremonial academy at the Youth Home in Sarajevo.

Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević congratulated all members of the SC Ministry of Interior on Sarajevo City Day and SC Police Day, emphasizing that the Sarajevo police are the main support for all citizens of the Canton.



- The Sarajevo police were, are, and will be the first call for our fellow citizens in need. We do not intend to change that. We know what oath we took.

We will work independently, professionally, conscientiously, and patriotically. We know we live in challenging times, but we have not learned to run from challenges - quite the opposite - Hajdarević said.

Minister of Interior of SC Admir Katica, congratulating Police Day, stated that he is proud of the Sarajevo Canton Police.



- Our police today are a respectable force that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the strongest and best-equipped police agencies in the region, because we have long surpassed the standards set within our country.

We have the best young cadre, guided by the mentorship of senior colleagues with invaluable knowledge and experience. We have the best equipment, weaponry, and material-technical resources for work, and we will not stop in this equipping.

New special vehicles, new equipment, new weaponry are coming, and soon we will receive our first helicopter, which will be our most valuable material resource ever - Katica said.



At the ceremonial event, recognitions were awarded, including, among others, the Golden Police Badge, the Silver Police Badge, letters of thanks to institutions and associations of police veterans, as well as awards and recognitions to employees for achieved results in the previous period.

Before the ceremonial academy, delegations of the Ministry of Interior and the Police Administration laid flowers at the memorials to slain police officers Davor Vujinović, Adis Šehović, and Muhidin Pivodić.



Tribute was paid at the Kovači Martyrs' Cemetery and the grave of the first President of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović, in front of the Eternal Flame, at the memorial to the killed children of besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, at the Vraca Memorial Park, as well as at the memorials of the "First Police Brigade Stari Grad" and the Special Purpose Police Unit "Lasta", and to the killed police officers in Veliki Park and the Memorial Room in the SC Ministry of Interior.
