(Patria) - Fighter jets of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) took off twice in the last 48 hours to protect NATO airspace from Russian fighter jets, British media reported today.
British "Typhoons" were engaged in two separate incidents this week after Russian military aircraft came too close to the NATO border, causing an alarm, reports London's "Telegraph".
The interventions occurred at a time when US President Donald Trump seems to have lost patience with Russian President Vladimir Putin and threatened America's withdrawal from negotiations on a peace agreement for Ukraine.
This is the first time the RAF has been called to intervene as part of Operation Chazmen, a new NATO mission to strengthen Europe's air defence. Ministers stated that the latest incident warns that Russia is becoming increasingly aggressive in provoking the West, reports Tanjug.
