Bosnia and Herzegovina is ready to welcome participants of the NATO field exercise “BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA 2017” which will be held from September 25 to 29, 2017, in the vicinity of Tuzla.
The Ministry of Defence of BiH confirmed that all preparations are completed and, in addition to domestic participants, international teams from 34 countries have arrived at the Operations Base located in the Campus of the University of Tuzla.
According to the Executive Director of the Exercise, Samir Huseinbašić, everything is ready for the start of this, to date, largest civilian exercise in BiH, which will be opened tomorrow in the presence of numerous high-ranking officials by the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, and the Assistant Secretary General of NATO, Sorin Ducaru.
NATO and partner countries are practicing response mechanisms in disaster situations with the aim of more effective cooperation in emergencies and strengthening the capabilities of civil protection structures in BiH.
The field part of the exercise will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, and it includes flood rescue, earthquake response, mine accidents, mine incidents, urban search and rescue, and protection in case of chemical, biological, radiological threats, reports NAP.
