In the first six months of 2015, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded a negative natural increase, which was highest in February 2015 at 543, according to data from the Federal Institute of Statistics, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.
A higher number of births than deaths was recorded in July this year, when 1,718 people were born and 1,634 died.
In the first seven months of 2015, 6,522 marriages were contracted, while in the same period there were 636 divorces.
If this trend of population decline and divorce rates continues, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will face a major crisis.
The white plague has long been knocking at the door, and the excessive departure of young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, meaning healthy and reproductive population, will only contribute to deepening the crisis.
If we add to this the problem of infertility that married couples in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina often face, and the treatment and conception process takes years, we could soon face even more devastating data in the demographic picture of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
