Bosnia and Herzegovina could receive the green light for the activation of the Membership Action Plan (MAP) at the NATO summit in Warsaw in June next year, even if Republika Srpska continues to refuse the registration of prospective immovable military property to the state of BiH, reports the Patria News Agency.
With this move, the Alliance member countries want to send a clear signal to BiH that the NATO doors are wide open for it, regardless of the stance of Republika Srpska.
An initiative will be launched within the NATO Alliance, similar to the British-German initiative that unblocked the activation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, i.e., established a new approach to the conditions for membership in the European Union, confirmed multiple sources!
In practice, this would mean that the MAP would be activated upon the completion of the registration of prospective immovable military property in the FBiH, where out of a total of 63 such locations, 40 are located, and 23 locations have been registered so far.
Insistence will be placed on the registration of this property in RS as well, where none of the 23 locations have been registered to the state of BiH so far, whose authorities, especially recently, have been increasingly emphasizing that they will not allow this in the future either.
Therefore, it is expected that in order to strengthen its interests, NATO member states could support the activation of BiH's MAP, and thus nullify the effects that Russian policy has on RS, which directly block BiH's membership in NATO, writes Pravda.
