Petition against oppression of Palestinians to be signed in Sarajevo tomorrow

The Association "Palestinian Community in BiH", the "Bosnian-Palestinian Friendship Association" and the "Young Muslims" Association will tomorrow, in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral, organize a petition signing as part of the International Campaign "Solidarity with Prisoners in Israeli Camps", reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Citizens of Sarajevo will have the opportunity from 2 PM to 6 PM to cast their vote against the violation of the International Convention on Human Rights, the violation of all conventions on the protection of children, the elderly and sick persons who are held in Israeli dungeons without any legal basis and without any indictments filed.

Anes Džunuzović, Secretary General of the "Young Muslims" Association, told the Patria agency that the people of Sarajevo deeply sympathize with the Palestinian people, as they themselves were subjected to unprecedented torture by the Serbian aggressor a few years ago.

- The difference is that the suffering of the people in BiH lasted for four years, while the suffering of the Palestinian people has been going on for decades - says Džunuzović. You have Palestinians who were born in exile, grew up, and died as refugees. Many of them do not know a better life.

It is estimated that since 1967, Israeli occupying forces have arrested and imprisoned approximately 800,000 Palestinians for shorter and longer periods, which is more than 20% of the population of the occupied Palestinian territories. Palestinian prisoners are held in more than 17 notorious camps, barracks, and in investigation and detention centers, where all forms of physical and psychological torture are carried out against the prisoners, which has resulted in death in at least 207 cases.

Currently, more than 6,000 innocent Palestinians are held in Israeli dungeons. Of these:

- 187 children under 18 years of age,
- 21 women,
- 1,500 sick people,
- 12 parliamentarians, including the Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Duwaik

In the last three weeks, the Israeli authorities have arrested more than 640 Palestinians, including 60 who were released in the last exchange.

- Due to the escalation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, we hereby condemn Israeli state terrorism, which has escalated in recent days and which allowed the abduction and burning of a fifteen-year-old innocent Palestinian boy, Mohamad Abu Khudair, in Jerusalem, and the injury of 200 other Palestinian boys - announced the petition organizers in Sarajevo.

The Israeli occupying government, they say, wants to stop the international processes of resolving the Palestinian issue in every way and to keep all of Palestine and the Palestinian people under occupation even after 66 years, reports Patria.
