Šušnjar again denies being the perpetrator who killed in Višegrad

Radomir Šušnjar, a former member of the Republika Srpska army, charged with war crimes in Višegrad during the last aggression against BiH, appeared on Wednesday before the Court of Appeal in Paris (Cour d'Appel de Paris), which is competent for his extradition to Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

However, Šušnjar again denied being the Šušnjar sought by the prosecutors, stating that he committed no crime. The decision on his extradition to Bosnia and Herzegovina will be made on 7 January next year. Until then, Šušnjar will remain free.

From the Association „Woman-Victim of War“ they state that Radomir (Radovan) Šušnjar, known as Lalco from Višegrad, together with Milan and Sredoje Lukić, participated in the horrific crime known to the public as „The Living Bonfire“ in which on 14 June 1992, in a house on Pionirska Street in Višegrad, more than 70 Bosniak civilians were locked up, among whom were women who had previously been raped, as well as children, with the youngest victim being a two-day-old baby. They were tortured and finally burned alive. Eight managed to escape.

For this crime, the ICTY (International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia) sentenced Milan Lukić to life imprisonment, and Sredoje Lukić to 27 years in prison.

Until 2014, Šušnjar was unavailable to judicial institutions, but in April he was arrested in Paris, France.

From the Association "Woman - victim of war" they expect that the Court in Paris will decide on the extradition of Radomir Šušnjar to the judicial authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that he too will receive the highest punishment for the deeds he committed, reports NAP.
