Suljagić at NATO Headquarters: BiH Has Significantly Advanced on the Euro-Atlantic Path

Today, a delegation of the BiH Ministry of Defence, led by Deputy Minister Emir Suljagić, met with the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Ambassador Alexander Vershbow, at NATO headquarters in Brussels, reports the Patria News Agency.

During this meeting, the significant progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Euro-Atlantic path was emphasized, confirmed by the decision to activate the Stabilization and Association Agreement, which directly encourages BiH's efforts to intensify cooperation with NATO.

Suljagić informed his interlocutors about the progress made so far in fulfilling the conditions for activating the NATO Membership Action Plan. The interlocutors agreed that the coming years are crucial for Bosnia and Herzegovina's NATO path. The interlocutors also expressed satisfaction with the support of all countries in the region for Bosnia and Herzegovina's membership in the NATO alliance.

The visit of the Ministry of Defence delegation within the framework of the so-called PARP assessment represents a reset, or rather a renewed push forward from stagnation for BiH's NATO integration, after several years of stagnation.

Deputy Minister Suljagić met with numerous other high-ranking NATO officials, including the Chairman of the Military Committee, the Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, as well as with the delegation of Great Britain to NATO. During all these meetings, full support for BiH's NATO aspirations was expressed, along with satisfaction regarding the progress made.

The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in addition to the Deputy Minister, included Mr. Zoran Šajinović – Assistant Minister of Defence for International Cooperation, Major General Mirko Tepšić, Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the BiH Armed Forces, and Brigadier Alija Kožljak, Head of the Military Part of the BiH Mission to NATO.

The meetings were also attended by Ms. Nada Janković – Chargé d'Affaires of the BiH Mission to NATO, as announced by the Ministry of Defence of BiH.
