Clashes in Belgrade: Journalists also targeted in attacks

(Patria) - In Belgrade, a march is being held this afternoon as part of Europride, but the first incidents with opponents of the march began around noon. Two participants of the protest against Pride were arrested near the Church of Saint Mark, after they threw bottles at cars, cursed at gathered news crews, and got into an argument with police officers. The defrocked monk Antonije hit an N1 cameraman in the stomach with a bottle. Pride opponents attacked the police, and the defrocked monk was arrested. Strong police forces blocked about thirty citizens, including the defrocked monk, near the Main Post Office in Takovska Street. We are following the events in the capital of Serbia live!

The protest march will be organized from 5:30 PM along the route from the Constitutional Court to the Tašmajdan stadium, where a concert will be held later in the evening, announced by Pride. The Administrative Court issued a decision rejecting the lawsuit due to the ban on the march. The Ministry of Interior announced a few days ago that both marches were banned – both the Pride march and the march that was supposed to be a kind of "counter-pride" – a family march organized by "anti-globalists." Activists say that the Ministry of Interior has not officially commented on the new route of the march and that it is therefore legal. In addition, today there are other reasons to move through Belgrade. In the city center, the promotion of new officers of the Serbian Army and the "Red Bull F1 Showroom" are also taking place.
