Clashes between police and litijaši on the streets of Belgrade over Europride

(Patria) - Clashes between police and opponents of Europride have occurred on the streets of Belgrade. Today at 5:30 PM, a march is being held as part of the "Europride 2022" event. Despite bans by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the decision of the Administrative Court, the organizers are not giving up. At the same time, opponents of the march are gathering.

Clashes between Pride opponents and police occurred near the Parliament. As reported by a Nova.rs reporter, the defrocked monk Antonije was first singled out from the crowd and then taken into a police van.

Police are currently pushing demonstrators further down from the Parliament. Several people have been detained.

Sofija Todorović, representing Pride organizations, confirmed that an incident occurred in which two men snatched the main banner intended for today's march from volunteers.

According to her information, they have been detained and are giving statements to the police.

At least 3,000 police officers will be directly responsible for securing today's march as part of Europride. In addition to police officers on the streets and in parts of the city where the Pride procession will move, the number of engaged security personnel in uniform or plainclothes will be significantly higher - a total of around 6,000 people.
