Clash with rebels: 4 Ukrainian soldiers killed, 14 wounded

Four Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 14 wounded in clashes with pro-Russian rebels in the last 24 hours, the Ukrainian army announced on Thursday amid a new wave of violence for which it is feared that the ceasefire will be buried, reports the Patria News Agency.

A large increase in military and civilian casualties in the last two weeks has prompted the leaders of France and Germany, who helped achieve the ceasefire, to arrange new talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to discuss ways to preserve peace.

Ukrainian military spokesman Oleksandr Motuzjanyk reported that rebels again shelled government positions near the city of Donetsk and opened mortar fire in villages near Mariupol.
