(Patria) - The Paris Court of Appeal has approved the request for the release of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy from prison, French television BFMTV reported.
Media reported earlier today that Sarkozy had requested release from prison while awaiting a decision on his appeal, just weeks after he began serving a five-year sentence for conspiracy to fund his campaign from Libya.
According to the court's decision, he will be under judicial supervision with a ban on contact with the accused and witnesses, in the case of Libyan financing of his election campaign.
