Court Overturns Brčko District Budget, Croatian Representatives Oppose SNSD and SDS

The Appellate Court of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina has overturned the District's budget for 2015, ruling that it was not adopted in accordance with the Statute of the Brčko District, reported the InfoBrcko portal. During the adoption of the budget in Brčko, at least three Croatian representatives, as defined by the Statute of the Brčko District, were not present at the vote.

Following the decision of the Appellate Court, the budget, which was adopted in March this year, will be returned for re-adoption. It is not yet known whether this could lead to delays in certain payments, writes the Patria news agency.

Croatian representatives in the Brčko Assembly, Ivan Krndelj and Petar Vrhovac, submitted to the Appellate Court an initiative to initiate proceedings to assess the compliance of the Decision of the Brčko District Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the adoption of the Brčko District budget with the Statute of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which the Appellate Court concluded that the District's budget for 2015 was not adopted in accordance with the District's Constitution.
The initiative of the Croatian representatives was also supported by representatives from the Serbian people, Siniša Golić and Miodrag Peranović (PDP), and Perica Burgić from the SP.

Croatian representative Vrhovac told Patria that the unconstitutional budget was adopted in March by the SNSD-SDS coalition, which ignored warnings that the rights of the Croatian people were violated during the adoption of the budget.
