Court of BiH confirms indictment in Bobar Bank case

The Court of BiH has confirmed the indictment against 16 individuals in the Bobar Bank case, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

The indictment was filed at the beginning of February. It includes 16 individuals accused of financial crime and abuse, which caused damage of approximately 122.5 million KM to citizens, companies, and legal entities.

The accused are charged with, as a group of connected persons, having gained control over the entire operations of Bobar Banka a.d. Bijeljina and enabling the granting of multi-million loans without adequate collateral, which were illegally awarded to affiliated legal entities of the Bobar Group, and whose repayment was not realistically possible, nor was the loan repayment adequately secured.

In this way, they led to the financial collapse of the bank and the loss of deposits held in the bank by companies, administrative bodies, as well as citizens, who lost their invested funds due to the bank's collapse, reaching multi-million amounts for individual creditors.

Given that funds from health institutions, power companies, municipalities, and other legal entities, as well as individual citizens, were invested in the bank, many citizens in both BiH entities, as well as in Brčko District of BiH, were directly or indirectly harmed by the bank's collapse.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling approximately 60 witnesses and expert witnesses, and over 2,500 pieces of evidence have been submitted along with the indictment.

The investigation and indictment in the Bobar Bank case is one of the most complex financial crime investigations conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the first case where the amount of damage exceeds 100 million KM.

International arrest warrants will be requested for individuals who are included in the investigation but are not available and are located outside of BiH. The accused are charged with organized crime, abuse of official position or authority, and money laundering.
