Court of BiH rejects Prosecution's proposed measures for defendants in Mektić et al. case

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has rejected all proposed measures by the BiH Prosecution for the defendants in the case of Dragan Mektić et al.

We recall, the Prosecution had requested that the defendants be ordered measures prohibiting meetings with witnesses in this case and approaching within 100 meters, as well as appearing in the media and giving comments about this case.

Mektić, the former state Minister of Security, is charged by the BiH Prosecution with abuse of office, and an indictment has also been filed against Igor Golijanin, former head of the Cabinet of the Minister in the BiH Ministry of Security, Samir Agić as assistant minister in the BiH Ministry of Security, and Edin Garaplija as the responsible person and owner of the Institute for Fire and Explosion Protection - INZA d.o.o. Sarajevo.

The measure prohibiting Garaplija from performing professional activities and engaging in projects was dismissed because the right to work is guaranteed by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights, whereby the Court confirmed that the Prosecution thereby violated the provisions of Article 2 of the Constitution of BiH for the protection of human rights.
