Subašić: I wish Mladić health and that he lives to be 150 years old!

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The false news that Ratko Mladić, a war criminal, died in The Hague did not surprise Munira Subašić, president of the Association "Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves". She immediately, and before the media, received confirmation from The Hague that Mladić had not died.

"The scenario reminds me of the one with Slobodan Milošević, but that one succeeded. I claim he only died in 2011 in Moscow. One family guards that grave which does not bear his name," said Subašić, expressing dissatisfaction that the media did not wish to investigate the topic.

Regarding Mladić, in a statement to the Patria News Agency, Subašić says she wishes him to live to be 150 years old.

"I pray for his health, that he lives and experiences a final verdict and a sentence of life imprisonment. That every night he sees the eyes of our murdered children looking pleadingly, seeking mercy, which he did not have. May they haunt him, I wish him a long life," said Subašić.

A final verdict for General Ratko Mladić will be delivered by the Hague court by the end of 2020, announced Karmel Ađijus, president of the court's Mechanism in The Hague, in a regular semi-annual report to the UN Security Council in New York.

The Hague Tribunal had sentenced General Mladić, former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, to life imprisonment in the first-instance verdict for genocide in Srebrenica, persecution of Muslims and Croats throughout BiH, terrorizing civilians in Sarajevo through prolonged shelling and sniping, and taking UNPROFOR members hostage, 1991-95. Mladić's defense appealed this verdict.

The Hague prosecution appealed the fact that General Mladić was acquitted of the charge of genocide in six other Bosnian municipalities in the first-instance verdict.

An oral hearing on the appeals is expected to be held before the appellate chamber in The Hague as early as this spring.
