Students pay the highest price: No one knows how many UNSA professors teach at private faculties

The situation at the University of Sarajevo is quite chaotic. It has never been recorded that relations between the rector and the UNSA Governing Board were so damaged that, due to a lack of mutual communication and the arbitrariness of the Board President Mevludin Mekić, the University's reputation has been harmed and numerous initiated projects have been called into question, writes the Patria news agency.

We will cite just one example that shows there is no order at UNSA, and that individuals act according to their own discretion, looking after personal interests rather than general ones, and especially not the interests of the students for whom they are there.

The Student Parliament, which no one from the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković to the Governing Board pays attention to, continuously insists that UNSA professors and deans be banned from parallel work at private faculties in the Federation of BiH.

In response to an inquiry from the Patria agency regarding UNSA professors and deans who teach at private faculties, the Rectorate's Public Relations Office replied that there is currently no ban. This means that no one knows how many professors from the University of Sarajevo teach at private faculties.

- Driven by the need to shape a coordinated policy for the further development of the University, the Senate of the University of Sarajevo, by a conclusion adopted at a session held on February 25, 2015, requested the opinion of the teaching/scientific/artistic councils of faculties/academies within the University on adopting a decision that would ban the engagement of University of Sarajevo teaching staff and associates at private universities in BiH.

After the submitted opinions of the teaching/scientific/artistic councils, which were considered at the 32nd session of the Senate held on April 29, 2015, the Senate did not reach a unified position, they replied from the Rectorate, adding that in the 2015/2016 academic year, no one had sought the consent of the University of Sarajevo rector for engagement at private faculties.
