Shooting Club and KS Association: Only war and ZOI '84 director Hubijar stopped this sport

Shooting Club Sarajevo and the KS Shooting Association issued a public statement informing the public that they are forced to cancel the International April 6th Shooting Tournament, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- After the incomprehensible arbitrariness of ZOI '84 director Midhat Hubijar to ban top clubs from using the shooting range in Zetra, we are forced to postpone the International April 6th Shooting Tournament. Namely, Director Hubijar banned shooting clubs of the Olympic program from using the shooting range starting March 1st, a national holiday, thus endangering not only this competitive season but also the survival of shooting clubs.

In addition to the already ruined competitive season, we have experienced an unprecedented disgrace and shame, as we had to postpone the April 6th Tournament, a competition that is on the calendar of the European Shooting Confederation and is traditionally held as part of the "Sarajevo City Day" celebrations and is included in the Program for marking Sarajevo City Day for 2016.

We were forced to take this step because our competitors and teams could not prepare for this competition, nor could we complete all the technical preparations necessary for organizing this major international competition, in order to be the best possible hosts to our guests and organize the competition at the highest level as before.

Our club has existed since 1948, and during that period, we only interrupted our activity twice. During the war and by the decision of director Hubijar.

It is obvious that director Hubijar does not know how much the shooters and shooting officials from our club deserve that one of the most modern shooting ranges in Europe exists in Zetra. Because if he knew, he would never have thought of solving problems, if he has any, at the expense of athletes.
We deserve that the shooting range was built in 1985, we deserve that after the war the shooting range remained in the Zetra facility, because there were other scenarios for the shooting range from people like the aforementioned director who do not understand what sport is, especially top and Olympic sport.
Our club, or rather one of our shooters, deserves the most that in the Zetra shooting range we have the most modern equipment used in major shooting competitions, including the Olympics. Equipment that very few shooting ranges can boast of.
But what good is that to us when there are people whose profit or personal interest is more important than the social interest or the interest of the state.

Should we mention at this point how many of our members, soldiers of the Army of RBiH and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RBiH, were injured by this ban, who came to training every day to either train themselves or pass on their rich sports experience to younger generations.
At the beginning of the war, our clubs made all their material resources available for the defense of the city and the country. We emerged from the war with a completely devastated arsenal of weapons and equipment, and we had to start from scratch.
The shooting range at Velešići was a military base for a unit and was completely destroyed and burned down in a fire.

We never expected society to repay us or compensate us in any way, because we suffered enormous and immeasurable damage, as did the country itself.

But what we expect is that the authorities have at least a little understanding for us and our problems. Obviously, different times have come where merits are not appreciated, not even patriotic ones.
