Horrific crime in Linz: Man kills wife, daughter, and himself over inheritance

(Patria) - A horrific crime shook the Austrian city of Linz this afternoon.

A double murder and suicide occurred in front of a guesthouse. The perpetrator of this heinous act is the husband and father of the two murdered women. The entire neighborhood is in shock, writes Krone.at.

According to initial information, an 88-year-old Austrian man shot and killed his wife (89) and daughter (61) in front of the traditional guesthouse Lüftner in the Urfahr district, and then took his own life.

Emergency services reported that there is no further danger to citizens, and the weapon used in the crime was found in the parking lot.

Everything happened around 1:30 PM. As the newspaper "Krone" learns, a dispute over inheritance is most likely behind it all.

A suicide note was also found at the scene. The police investigation is ongoing, and the wider area around the guesthouse is cordoned off with police tents.

Reporters from the scene report that residents of the Urfahr district are shaken and frightened.

- Several people have already called me to check if I'm alive - said one resident.

At the time of the shooting, 84-year-old Adelheid S. was sitting in the guesthouse.

- There were a lot of gunshots. The owner of the guesthouse turned pale and immediately locked everything - she described the event.

Only after half an hour was she allowed to leave the premises, but she could only exit on the right side. On the left side, in the parking lot, a horrific scene of three lifeless bodies was visible.

Guests had to leave their cars in the parking lot and go home on foot or wait for someone to pick them up.
