CEC website unavailable, checks underway for new hacker attack

(Patria) - The official website of the Central Election Commission is currently unavailable, and checks are being conducted to determine if it is a hacker attack, confirmed to Patria from the CEC.

As we were told, the technical service is working on checks, and they actually took down the website for security reasons. The election process is not endangered, and online applications for voting have been completed.

We remind you that the website of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (parlament.ba) has been under a hacker attack for days and cannot be accessed. The website of the Council of Ministers of BiH is functioning properly, although it was also targeted by attacks.

At the beginning of this month, OSA issued a warning to all BiH institutions to conduct a security assessment of information and communication systems and to take necessary preventive protection measures and procedures due to the large number of cyber incidents.

"We advise all individuals and organizations to conduct a security assessment of information and communication systems and to implement security measures as soon as possible in order to proactively prevent potential cyber attack attempts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are in daily contact with domestic and international partners with the aim of protecting citizens and institutions from malicious influences and threats that have intensified recently. The Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is monitoring all attempts at illegal activities in cyberspace in order to identify perpetrators and motives for cyber attacks," stated OSA.
