Hundreds of Turks have been protesting in Alanya for two days, after 30 Turkish soldiers and police officers were killed in separate attacks in just three days, reports a correspondent of the Bosnian news agency Patria who is on the scene.
The attacks on Turkish security forces were carried out by the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). They also claimed responsibility for the death of a Turkish doctor, who was killed a few days ago while visiting an area.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would not leave the nation's future to three or five terrorists, and announced a serious fight against the PKK.
A ceasefire between the PKK and Turkey had previously been signed, but that ceasefire is no longer in effect. Erdogan believes that the terrorist organization must end its activities and lay down its weapons.
He earlier said that the early elections on November 1 would provide a solution to the problems that have befallen Turkey. He believes that people will demand that someone take responsibility for what happened. Also, Erdogan called on rivals to set aside competition and said that Turkey needs unity, writes Patria.
