Hungarian police also arriving: Completely close 600 kilometers of BiH's eastern border

(Patria) - The session of the Council of Ministers of BiH scheduled for March 11 will also consider the Information on the situation in the field of migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina in connection with the increased influx of migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ministry of Security has also prepared a Proposal for a decision on determining temporary reception centers for the accommodation of migrants at the location of the „Bira“ factory and the location of the „Borići“ Student Dormitory in Bihać. At the last meeting of the Operational Staff for Migration Issues, it was concluded that Bosnia and Herzegovina will use all available capacities to strengthen control and surveillance at the eastern border and prevent the entry of illegal migrants.

Given the operational data on the number of migrants in Greece and the movement of migrants along the Balkan route, strengthening border control has been identified as the main priority in resolving the migrant situation. 

Hungary's offer to send police to assist in border patrols is also being considered.

Therefore, the Border Police has been requested to submit an analysis for the next Staff meeting on the required number of police officers to completely close the 600-kilometer long eastern border, which will be further forwarded to the Council of Ministers of BiH. Currently, there are about 3,500 migrants in BiH, all accommodated in eight reception centers.
