Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojša Stefanović stated last night that the police and prosecution have more criminal investigations in their final stages and that it is quite certain that there will be more operations like this one in the coming period, in which a large number of people were arrested for corruption, reports the Patria News Agency.
"There have been many speculations about everything. This is being done according to the law, in the most serious manner, and we are gathering evidence for each case, which is why the investigations have lasted so long. They lasted for months, and now we have completed them... Some other criminal investigations are still ongoing, in their final stages, and it is certain that we will have more such operations," Stefanović told Radio Television of Serbia.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia announced earlier that 80 people were arrested in an operation across the entire territory of Serbia, in cooperation with the competent public prosecutor's offices and the tax police. They were arrested for committing several criminal offenses in the field of financial crime and corruption since 2004.
