(Patria) - The US State Department praised the decision of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska to appoint Ana Trišić Babić as acting president of that entity and the withdrawal of separatist laws that were earlier annulled by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The statement notes that this move is the result of efforts led by the United States of America aimed at calming the political crisis in BiH.
"The United States of America welcomes the action of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, which confirms stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and paves the way for a constructive partnership with the US based on shared interests and economic prosperity," Brendan Hanrahan, a senior State Department official for European and Eurasian affairs, told Reuters.
Recall, the US Treasury Department on Friday removed four associates of Milorad Dodik from the sanctions list.
