(Patria) - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday they welcome US President Donald Trump's leadership in working towards lasting peace in Ukraine, Reuters reported last night.
A spokesperson for Starmer's office said the leaders spoke by phone earlier on Tuesday and reiterated that Ukraine must be at the center of any peace negotiations regarding the war with Russia, and that Europe is ready to play its part.
Macron met with Trump on Monday, and Starmer will travel to Washington this week. Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also spoke by phone, both leaders said in social media posts.
Macron, writing on social media platform X, said efforts continue to achieve a "firm and lasting peace in Ukraine".
Zelenskyy, in his nightly video address, thanked Macron for his support.
