Stability of veteran benefits to be ensured by budget rebalance

A delegation of fundamental veteran organizations, Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Nermin Nikšić, and Zukan Helez, Minister for Veterans' Affairs and Disabled Veterans of the Defensive-Liberation War, held a meeting on the status of payments of veteran disability benefits and benefits for recipients of the highest war decorations. Nikšić stated that the Federal government is doing everything to ensure regular payments and maintain them at the current level, after a delay in the implementation of the stand-by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund occurred due to the non-adoption of certain legal solutions in the BiH Parliament, leaving the federal budget without 345,000,000 convertible marks of allocated funds for this year.

The delegation of fundamental veteran organizations was led by the Vice-President of the Organization of Families of Martyrs and Fallen Fighters of FBiH, Hajrudin Halilović, the President of the Alliance of War Veterans of FBiH, Ale Hošić, and the President of the Alliance of Recipients of the Highest War Decorations and Medals of FBiH, Šerif Patković.

The Federal government's commitment is to resolve this budget deficit on the revenue side, not the expenditure side, and for this purpose, certain measures have been proposed to maintain the financial stability of the Federation and prevent a reduction in payments, and to maintain their planned dynamics. This primarily refers to the Budget Rebalance, which will be proposed to the Federal Parliament for adoption by the end of the week.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that through the Government's measures, particularly its own savings, the Federation's debt is being reduced and the stability of its budget users is being maintained.

Representatives of the fundamental veteran associations announced that they will request the FBiH Parliament to consider and adopt the Proposal for the FBiH Budget Rebalance for 2014 as soon as possible to ensure the fiscal stability of the FBiH.

Representatives of the fundamental veteran organizations emphasized the need for the revision of the veteran population to continue and be completed, and for amendments to the legal solutions concerning the veteran population, which have been challenged by the decisions of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of BiH, to be undertaken as soon as possible.
