What interests BiH citizens: Can a Muslim be a photographer or work in juice production

On the website of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in BiH, in the section "Questions and Answers", where Prof. Dr. Enes Ljevaković, fetva-i-emin and president of the Council for Fatwas, resolves various doubts with his explanations, there are a number of interesting views regarding different professions, reports the Patria news agency.

Thus, a question was posed by a woman who received the opportunity to work in juice production at a factory that, besides juices and water, also produces alcohol.

- Since I was adamant in not accepting work in alcohol production, I received a guarantee that I would work exclusively on juice production and would have no contact with alcohol.
Would my work and earnings under those circumstances be halal, given that this company generates most of its profit from alcohol sales? – she asked.

Prof. Dr. Ljevaković was extremely clear and explained that “work in juice production is permitted, and thus the earnings from that job are halal”.

- Those who perform haram jobs are responsible for their part of the work – Ljevaković emphasized.

Extremely interesting is also the question from a person who wanted to know what the ruling is regarding digital photography in Islam.

Is it permissible to be a photographer, taking pictures of halal things (e.g., nature, business people, sports, buildings, etc.), and selling those images to microstock agencies, from which they are later purchased by various media outlets, newspapers, companies, banks, etc. – the question was posed.

Since photography in Islam is generally permissible, there is no obstacle for a Muslim to engage in the profession of photography, Ljevaković specified.

- One should not photograph what is forbidden in Islam (nudity, drinking parties, revelries, pornographic content, etc.) – Ljevaković explained.
