(Patria) - During winter, it is important to maintain adequate hydration to ensure the good health and functioning of our body.
Although we may not feel the same thirst as during summer, our body still requires a certain amount of fluid to function properly. It is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of fluid per day during winter. This amount includes water, herbal teas, freshly squeezed juices, and warm beverages.
Water is the best choice for hydration, but we can also consume fluids through other sources.
Herbal teas are an excellent choice during winter because they not only hydrate but also provide additional health benefits. Teas like chamomile, mint, and ginger can help strengthen the immune system, alleviate cold and flu symptoms, and reduce inflammation.
Freshly squeezed juices are also a good source of hydration during winter. We can make juices from citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, and grapefruits, which are rich in vitamin C and help strengthen the immune system. Also, vegetable juices like carrot, beetroot, and celery provide us with essential nutrients and hydrate our body.
Warm beverages such as warm water with lemon, herbal teas, and soup are also important during winter. Warm water with lemon can help detoxify the body, aid digestion, and strengthen the immune system. Herbal teas like ginger, green tea, and chamomile provide additional hydration and health benefits. Soup, especially chicken soup, is an excellent source of hydration and can help alleviate cold and flu symptoms.
It is important to note that excessive consumption of caffeinated and alcoholic beverages should be avoided during winter, as they can cause dehydration. Caffeinated drinks like coffee and energy drinks can have a diuretic effect and cause more frequent urination, leading to fluid loss.
Alcohol also has a diuretic effect and can cause dehydration.
Consuming sufficient fluids during winter is crucial for maintaining hydration and overall health. Drinking water, herbal teas, freshly squeezed juices, and warm beverages will help us stay hydrated and resistant to colds and flu.
Take care of your hydration during winter and maintain good health!
