What the letter received by Muriz Memić reveals, and why police did not question witnesses from Velika aleja

Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, received new information a few days ago about the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton into this case. Today marks one year since the death of 21-year-old Dženan, and the truth about how he died has still not been uncovered.

Memić took the letter he received to the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so that the allegations in the letter could be checked and the possible responsibility of the named person determined.

The letter states that police official H.D. led the investigation in the wrong direction through his actions.

- Some of the information mentioned in the letter was already known to me, while I was shocked by some of it - said Memić, adding that he expects the judicial authorities to determine whether someone deliberately led the investigation into his son's murder in a different direction.

We recall that the incident was initially treated as a traffic accident, then as a murder, which was confirmed in a letter dated May 6, 2016, by the chief prosecutor of Sarajevo Canton, Dalida Burzić. However, in mid-August, the act was reclassified again as a serious criminal offense against the safety of public traffic, a criminal offense of failing to assist a person injured in a traffic accident, and a criminal offense of obstructing evidence, for which Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović are charged and are being tried at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo.

Memić died on the night of February 8 while walking with his girlfriend Alisa Mutap along Velika aleja. The Memić family claims that Dženan was murdered, and their request is that this case be taken over by either the Federal Police Administration or the State Investigation and Protection Agency so that the truth can finally be uncovered. They also demand the resignation of Dalida Burzić.

Due to the circumstances they found themselves in, the Memić family was forced to conduct their own investigation, thus obtaining footage from Velika aleja from that fateful night. In the footage, besides the Golf IV car and the van mentioned in the indictment and during witness testimonies, two men are seen walking along Velika aleja around 10:17 PM.

Memić said in an interview with Patria that the men from the footage contacted him and said that on that night they saw lights and rotating beacons, passed by the scene of the incident, but that no one asked them if they had seen or heard anything. They are making themselves available if the investigative authorities have any questions about the events of February 8.

The Memić family is grateful that they came forward and recounted what they noticed that night. Incidentally, the footage shows a Golf IV driven by Vehbija Seferović passing by them at high speed. This car is owned by the rental agency of Zijad Mutap, the father of Alisa Mutap.
