The crisis of the Muslim world as a crisis of the subject is the new book by the renowned academic Esad Duraković. In this book, Professor Duraković analyzes the emergence of numerous factions in the Muslim world that are bleeding in relentless mutual wars, but through the prism of these conflicts, he also analyzes the current relations between the East and the West.
The book was published for the Bosnian market by the publishing house Tugra, writes Patria.
Two footnotes published in Duraković's book refer to the new US President Donald Trump. We publish them in full and without corrections.
-Events are overtaking one another. Namely, I wrote this text about Trump's election campaign, fraught with xenophobia, on August 5, 2016. Not long after, world media reported that an unidentified person shot and killed a imam and his assistant in a neighborhood in New York from behind, at close range. (As far as I know, the killer has not yet been caught.)
The Muslim community in that neighborhood is outraged, and its reaction is interesting, based on what we could see on TV, which confirms my observations about Trump's election campaign focused on Islamophobia. Namely, Muslims in that neighborhood (in that community) say that Trump's campaign is to blame for the murder of their imam and assistant because his Islamophobic rhetoric motivated the killer of Muslim leaders in New York. The statement, even if the killer is not caught, presents two identifying positions here. One is that the murder of Muslim leaders occurred precisely in the midst of such a campaign by a presidential candidate, and the second is also important even if it is not true: Muslims believe that the poison of Trump's campaign is already working, which means that he has already been identified in the Muslim community as a particular threat of this kind.
This reception is important, regardless of the final outcome of the police investigation or verdict. Such things, unfortunately, should be expected on an even larger scale.
Fundamentalist evangelists are very active in the US, clearly and decisively calling for the destruction of Islam, believing it to be the greatest scourge in the world. Their leader Rod Parsley has great influence on American politicians, especially Republicans (Margolis, op. cit., p. 379). Trump is also from that party.
Reverend John Hagee (whom John McCain called his spiritual leader) also belongs to this group of "fundamentalist tele-evangelists," who also calls for the destruction of Islam, and speaks twice a day on 75 radio stations and 125 TV stations in the US and Canada. This "public campaign of hatred" reminds us "that Islamophobia is the only permissible public prejudice today" (Margolis, op. cit., p. 378).
