What would the mothers of the murdered Srebrenica boys say if they were here

After the Draft Resolution on Srebrenica was officially rejected by Russia's veto, representatives of the USA, France, and Venezuela addressed the assembly, reports the Patria News Agency. 

The address by the US Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, was particularly memorable, stating that the US would never give up on the Resolution.

"The Russian veto breaks the hearts of genocide victims. Denying genocide insults the victims, the families, but also represents an obstacle to reconciliation," Power said at the beginning of her address.

She added that the remains of tens of thousands of victims are still somewhere in graves, and that the Council did everything to convince Russia to vote FOR this Resolution.

"This council did everything to convince Russia to vote for this resolution, but Russia refused. The Security Council did not fulfill its obligation. Although we have thousands of pages of text, forensic evidence. The genocide in Rwanda, as well as in Srebrenica, is a proven fact. Everyone here knows the answers," said Power.

"However, some countries here decided to be neutral. What would the mothers of the murdered boys, who were killed simply because they were Muslims, say if they were here today. Some member states have used their position and decided to be neutral," added the US ambassador. 

To conclude her address, she emphasized that the US would never give up on Srebrenica.

"The remains of thousands of victims are still somewhere in graves. We will not give up on Srebrenica. This failure to vote is not a path to reconciliation," were the final words of the US ambassador, N1 reported.
