Serbian police arrested three Kosovo police officers on Kosovo territory, Kurti reacted

(Patria) - Kosovo Police announced that three border patrol officers were abducted on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, in the border area in the north of the country.

The Telegrafi portal learns that the three Kosovo police officers were abducted by the Serbian unit "Kobre".

The statement stated that the Kosovo Police (KP), in this case the border police unit, were on duty at a checkpoint in Tresave/Bare, deep inside the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, to prevent the use of illegal roads, which criminal groups used for illegal crossing and smuggling.

"Today at noon, a police unit consisting of three border officers reported that they noticed a masked and armed person/s near the checkpoint. Upon arrival at the location, the auxiliary units noticed only the official car, but not the police officers who were on duty at that location. Other police units, as well as other security institutions, including KFOR, immediately proceeded in the direction of this location, as it is suspected that the police officers were abducted by Serbian forces," the Kosovo Police statement said.

It further stated that in order to take concrete actions for the safety of the police officers suspected of being abducted by Serbian forces, all domestic and international mechanisms have been contacted so that they can be released and returned to Kosovo as soon as possible.

The news about the arrest of three Kosovo border guards was also announced by Vlora Citaku, Kosovo's ambassador to the USA.

Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti demanded the immediate release of the police officers and called on the international community to condemn Serbia's actions.

"The entry of Serbian forces into Kosovo's territory is an act of aggression and aims to escalate and destabilize. We demand the immediate release of the three abducted police officers and call on international actors to condemn this aggressive act by Serbia," he added.
