Serbian businessman Miroslav Bogićević arrested for organised crime

At the order of the Prosecutor's Office for Organised Crime, one of Serbia's biggest businessmen, Miroslav Bogićević, owner of Farmakom, was arrested at Belgrade airport, Serbian media report, as carried by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Serbia's Ministry of Interior states that Bogićević, together with the chairman of the credit committee of Privredna banka Beograd, Miodrag Salai, is charged with the criminal offence of abuse of position by a responsible person.

It is suspected that Bogićević and Salai committed the criminal offence by, from October 2012 to March 2013, based on a prior mutual agreement, enabling Privredna banka Beograd AD Belgrade to approve loans to companies whose guarantor was Koncern Farmakom MB.

These loans were not repaid to Privredna banka Beograd, causing it damage of 15,140,000 euros and 60 million dinars, i.e., 1,757,246,348 dinars, which is the amount of benefit obtained by the guarantor Koncern Farmakom MB from Šabac, the statement says.

Bogićević was born on 5 October 1953 in Šabac, and completed higher administrative school in Sarajevo.
