According to the indictment of the Serbian judiciary, Swiss authorities have arrested a Kosovo Albanian, who as a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army is charged with war crimes against Serbian civilians, Pristina media report, citing Swiss sources, the Patria news agency reports.
A. S. was arrested in his apartment in Zurich, and the Kosovo embassy in Bern has requested an explanation. Kosovo's Minister of Justice Hajredin Kuqi also intervened, sending a letter to Swiss Minister Simonetta Sommaruga.
According to Swiss media reports, Serbian authorities are seeking the extradition of A. S., which he opposes, claiming he is innocent.
Serbian authorities accuse A. S. of committing war crimes against Serbian civilians in two villages in Kosovo as a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army. In his letter to Sommaruga, Hajredin Kuqi states that the court in Kosovo, not the court of the neighboring country, has jurisdiction over the alleged crimes.
