Serbia seeks alternative for oil supply as EU prohibits deliveries to NIS

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy announced that variants are being developed for the case of interrupted oil deliveries to the NIS (Naftna industrija Srbije) via the Adriatic oil pipeline through Croatia, which Patria has written about.

The Ministry is currently analyzing possible routes for the supply of crude oil and oil derivatives from terminals and refineries in the surrounding area, according to the statement.

Available legal, business, logistical, and technical possibilities for importing crude oil and derivatives via pipeline, rail, tankers, and river transport, i.e., through ports, are also being considered.

The effects of changes in the supply method on the operation of domestic refinery capacities, the possibilities of using domestic oil, and increasing oil and derivative reserves in storage facilities are also being assessed, in order to respond as adequately as possible to a possible interruption of deliveries via the Adriatic oil pipeline.

All possibilities will be considered to extend the supply via the Adriatic oil pipeline, while taking measures to create reserves to overcome possible disruptions.

The transport of crude oil to Serbia is primarily carried out by pipeline, namely the Adriatic oil pipeline, which connects the port of Omišalj in Croatia with the "Transnafta" transport system, from where it is dispatched to refineries in Novi Sad and Pančevo.

The Adriatic oil pipeline, which supplies raw material to the Naftna industrija Srbije through Croatia, announced that it is suspending deliveries indefinitely from May 15, or until the sanctions against Russia due to the situation in Ukraine are lifted.
