Serbs crashed into Kosovo police vehicle, forcing them to shoot

(Patria) - Following the incident that occurred today in Kosovo near Leposavić, where two men of Serb nationality were injured, the Kosovo Police have also issued a statement.

According to the statement, young men hit a Kosovo Police unit with a car and refused to stop. This provoked a reaction from the police forces. The police stated that the lives of the police officers were directly threatened and that they fired to neutralize the danger.

"The police unit was officially assigned to a checkpoint, with the aim of maintaining public order and security, as well as preventing crime and smuggling. While performing police duties, the police unit at the checkpoint attempted to stop a vehicle which, while moving, hit a Kosovo Police vehicle, directly endangering the lives of police officers, who, with the aim of neutralizing the danger to them, fired firearms," it is stated.

"The suspects fled the scene with their vehicle, and investigative actions are being carried out in connection with this case, in cooperation and coordination with judicial authorities. Regarding the case, the Kosovo Police have also informed the Kosovo Police Inspectorate for further action," the statement further reads.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petković, stated today that members of the ROSU special police forces fired at a car carrying two Serbs at a checkpoint on Bistrica Bridge around 11:30 AM, and that one of them was injured.
