SPS deports French citizen, suspected of terrorism: Arrested in Trebinje on Interpol warrant

(Patria) - On 01/29/2024, the Service for Foreigners' Affairs carried out the forced removal of a French citizen, for whom an Interpol NCB warrant had been issued due to suspicion of criminal offenses related to terrorism, weapons, and high technology, and who was qualified by the competent authority for security checks as a person posing a threat to public order and national security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Service for Foreigners' Affairs, undertaking measures and actions within its jurisdiction to locate the said person, was informed on 12/30/2023 by police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska that the person in question had been deprived of liberty in the area of Trebinje, after which they were escorted by them to the official premises of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, where they were handed over to the Service for competent processing.

Accordingly, the said person was issued the measure of expulsion from the territory of BiH with a ban on entry and stay in the territory of BiH for a period of 5 years, after which they were placed under supervision in the Immigration Center in Istočno Sarajevo.

The removal of the said foreign national was carried out by private flight from Sarajevo International Airport, where they were handed over to officials of the National Transfer Service of the French Ministry of Justice from Paris, who will escort the person in question to their country of origin.

The Service for Foreigners' Affairs will continue to undertake such and similar activities in the future, with the priority goal of contributing to the protection of the security system of BiH.
