Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority in the Sarajevo regional center prevented an attempted smuggling and seized various textile goods and phones worth 24,000 KM, reports the Patria News Agency.
- During a regular inspection of passenger and goods traffic, officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority at Sarajevo International Airport discovered and prevented the smuggling of a large quantity of clothing items.
During the control of goods and passenger traffic using a stationary scanner "Smith & Heimann" donated through the EXBS program by the US Government, a larger quantity of clothing items was discovered within the bags of a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, exceeding the normal quantity of clothing items needed for the passenger's personal use. The total value of the seized goods is 14,000 KM - it was announced from the ITA.
In addition to the seized textiles, authorized ITA officials, through coordinated field activities in the Sarajevo Regional Center, temporarily seized 27 mobile phones and 10 watches worth 10,000 KM. These goods were being sold on the BiH market without any documentation of origin.
All goods subject to the offense have been temporarily seized, and a request for the initiation of misdemeanor proceedings will be filed with the competent court against the perpetrators of the offense in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offenses of BiH.
