Special Agent called "Chetnics" arrested Peljto on charges of slapping a Chetnik in Brčko in '92!

Mensur Peljto was arrested and is suspected of slapping someone, a member of a Chetnik formation at the time he was defending his village Gluhakovac, while aggressors and Red Berets were taking thousands of Brčko residents to a concentration camp where they were killed and tortured, stated Faruk Balijagić, lawyer of Mensur Peljto, a former professional boxer and respected resident of Brčko, for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Peljto was arrested today in Sarajevo by a special unit of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), headed by Jovica Mirosavljević, known as "Chetnics", on charges of war crimes.

Balijagić says that the order was issued by the Prosecutor's Office of Brčko District, but that the charges against his client are baseless.

- What is happening is shameful. A suspected slap cannot be a war crime. He is accused of a crime against prisoners of war - says Balijagić.

However, despite this, SIPA, still led by Goran Zubac, who has a confirmed indictment for dereliction of duty, arrested Peljto. Balijagić first wants to clarify the circumstances of the event related to Peljto's arrest.  

- It should be known that in '92, a special unit of 120 members of the Red Berets, under the direct command of Frenki Simatović and Aco Vasiljević, was deployed to Brčko. In addition to them, there were local Serbs from Brčko, police officers, and others who joined the reserve force of that unit. It was supposed to escort citizens to the Luka camp. But, since that unit could not transfer all the citizens to Luka, where they would be slaughtered, tortured, and killed, a Chetnik unit from Bijeljina was called, which was heading to the Gluhakovac local community, where Mensur Peljto is from - says Balijagić.

According to him, his client put up a defense of his neighborhood and wanted to prevent them from being taken to the camp.

- When Ramo Alomerović killed a Chetnik duke from Bijeljina, panic ensued, and Peljto is accused of slapping a member of the Chetnik formation at that time. The people who killed 7,000 non-Serbs in the Luka camp have not yet been held accountable. The dukes of that time walk around Brčko today, they are businessmen, and Peljto, who saved and stopped the Chetniks, is suspected - says Balijagić.

When asked if Zubac, due to the upcoming trial, is trying to render the work of the state police agency and judiciary meaningless with such actions, Balijagić does not want to answer. However, he said the following:

- How do I comment on the fact that Zubac has not yet been arrested? I can tell you that the international community has created a monster out of an independent judiciary, which is entirely at the service of the ruling political oligarchies.

Peljto will be brought before the prosecutor tomorrow at 11 AM, and it will be known whether detention will be requested, writes Patria.
