Soreca discussed the Growth Plan with Izetbegović

(Patria) - The President of the Party of Democratic Action, Bakir Izetbegović, met today with the Head of the European Union Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luigi Soreca.

The meeting discussed the need to accelerate Bosnia and Herzegovina's European integration process and the obligations our country must fulfill within that process.

In this context, reform laws were discussed, primarily the Law on Courts and the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH, the adoption of which is necessary to commence accession negotiations with the European Union. The interlocutors agreed that the content of these legal solutions must be fully aligned with European standards.

Special attention was paid to the Reform Program for the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. Izetbegović recalled that the prime ministers of cantons from SDA had previously given conditional consent to the adoption of the Reform Program, with remarks that were identical to the reasons why the European Commission did not accept the submitted document.

The SDA President thanked for the quick reaction of the European Union after the floods that hit several municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the beginning of October and for the concrete support in repairing their consequences. He wished Ambassador Soreca a successful mandate that will result in accelerated progress of BiH on its path to membership in the European Union.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of SDA, Halid Genjac.

"SDA's role remains crucial for the broad consensus necessary for progress. We also discussed the Reform Agenda of the Growth Plan. Now is the time to find positive compromises for a final agreement," stated Soreca.
