Somun warns: Challenges and dangers for Bosnia and Herzegovina are dramatic and coming from multiple sides!

(Patria) - The regular session of Krug 99 was held today on the topic "European realignment: Could Ukraine happen to Bosnia?", and the introductory speaker was former diplomat, publicist, journalist and foreign policy analyst Hajrudin Somun.

He said that the situation in the world is dramatic, as well as in the neighborhood of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"In the world, three open war hotspots are simultaneously active, each in its own way demanding a clearer commitment and active response from Bosnia and Herzegovina. And in BiH's neighborhood, these wars have also stirred up old divisions towards one or the other of the conflicting world powers and revived expansionist ambitions aimed primarily at the internal security, integrity and sovereignty of BiH," Somun states.

Somun warns that BiH is threatened with danger to its security and sovereignty if it becomes an object of the realignment of the world order and a bargaining chip for the interests of major world powers in Europe and the Balkans.

There is a fear that the Ukrainian war itself, depending on its outcome, might contribute to further divisions within Bosnia and Herzegovina, and even to its collapse.

Somun emphasizes that US President Donald Trump helped the Israelis complete the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and with them ignited a new war against Iran.

"If Vladimir Putin loses the war in Ukraine, the chances for the destroyers of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be greatly reduced, and if he succeeds in seceding and annexing its eastern provinces, Putin's ambitions will grow to prevent further expansion of the NATO pact in the Balkans. And to bring under the direct influence of 'Mother Russia' a possible self-proclaimed independence of one BiH entity. The challenges and dangers for Bosnia and Herzegovina are dramatic, so they also expect a dramatic reaction and activity in saving, preserving and strengthening its integrity and sovereignty. Especially since the dangers to its integrity and statehood do not come only from one side, from Russia and Serbia, but from its western borders, with some NATO members, and even Israel, being involved," Somun stated.
