Solo Piano Concert by Bartolomej Stanković on April 5th in Sarajevo

Bosnian-Herzegovinian pianist Bartolomej Stanković will hold a solo concert “Balkan Madness – BH edition”,  at the Dom Oružanih snaga in Sarajevo, on April 5th.

The concert program includes compositions by Bosnian-Herzegovinian classical music composers such as: Avdo Smailović, Milan Jeličanin, Milan Prebanda, Nada Ludvig Pečar, Josip Magdić, Asim Horozić, Armen Škobalj, David Mastikosa, Dražan Kosorić, and Samir Fejzić.

At the concert, named after Samir Fejzić's piano composition of the same name, Balkan Madness, the audience will be able to enjoy various artistic styles, ranging from neoclassicism, neoromanticism, through modern styles of jazz, avant-garde, and expressionism, to ethno melos and sevdalinka.

A special feature of the concert, which is entirely dedicated to domestic artistic creation with the aim of promoting BH piano art music both domestically and abroad, is that among the compositions to be performed by Bartolomej Stanković are three compositions by Armen Škobalj, David Mastikosa, and Samir Fejzić, created in the past year and dedicated specifically to Stanković, which is the result of mutual cooperation and joint contribution to the development of BH artistic creation.

The Balkan Madness concert premiered last year in Goražde on the occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Statehood Day.

Bartolomej Stanković, a BH pianist and assistant professor at the Music Academy of the University of East Sarajevo, has a number of solo concerts to his name, at which he has always emphasized the works of BH composers, starting with the Music Biennale in Zagreb in 2013, where he represented Bosnia and Herzegovina with the work “Metamorphoses” by the Visoko-based composer Avdo Smailović, and performances of Samir Fejzić's “Toccata” and Asim Horozić's “Sonata” at solo concerts in Sarajevo, Lipik, Split, and Zagreb. In addition to holding numerous concerts and lectures, he is also the founder and director of the music festival Days of Avdo Smailović, which will be held for the second time this year in Visoko from May 9th to 13th, writes Patria.
