SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Russian state news agency TASS reported a statement from the Ministry of Defense that civilian infrastructure, including a power supply station, was damaged as a result of "sabotage".
Ukraine has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement in a series of new explosions in Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that a military warehouse near the town of Dzhankoi in northern Crimea was damaged in a sabotage, the Russian state news agency RIA reported.
Ukrainian television NEXTA-TV on Tuesday released footage of an explosion in the town of Dzhankoi on the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea. The Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported the same day that a transformer station caught fire in that town around 6:00 a.m.
Sergei Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed head of Crimea, headed from the village of Mayskoye towards Dzhankoi as soon as he learned of the fire at the station and said the circumstances of the incident were being investigated.
Several local media outlets later reported that a weapons warehouse in the village of Mayskoye near Dzhankoi also caught fire during the morning. The Russian news agency TASS reported that an ammunition explosion occurred north of Crimea and that the local population was being evacuated.
The village of Mayskoye is located about 25 kilometers southeast of Dzhankoi.
Advisor to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, Anton Gerashchenko, posted on his official Twitter profile a video that he claims shows the aftermath of an explosion at a weapons warehouse in Crimea.
