Softić and Inzko: Central Bank of BiH is a Pillar of this State

High Representative Valentin Inzko visited the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) today, where he spoke with CBBH Governor, Dr. Senad Softić, the CBBH announced, reports the Patria News Agency.  

In his conversation with Governor Softić, Inzko expressed the full and unequivocal support of the Office of the High Representative for this important institution.

 “Political independence and autonomy are key components of the CBBH's success and an example that other institutions, at all levels, should follow in their work. The relationship with this institution must be based precisely on respecting these principles, as a protective mechanism for its effective and efficient functioning, and thus for the monetary and financial stability of the state itself,” said the High Representative, adding:

“This institution is a pillar of the state, and an example to others of how institutions should work independently, in the interest of the state and citizens, and with the aim of further development of the country.”

Governor Softić thanked for the support of the international community to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout all the years since its establishment, emphasizing that it will continue to work on its strengthening.

„Specifically, this means maintaining the stability of the monetary system of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strengthening the capacities of this institution so that it can play a proactive and positive role in the process of strengthening the Bosnian-Herzegovinian economy and upcoming European integrations. Only in this way is it possible to enhance positive trends and return Bosnia and Herzegovina to an accelerated path of recovery and development,“ said the Governor of the CBBH in a conversation with the High Representative for BiH.
