SNSD yields in Višegrad, budget adopted and dismissals in struggling public enterprises

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Višegrad gets a budget after two years. SNSD mayor Mladen Đurović finally relented, and his budget proposal was significantly amended by the municipal assembly majority with 15 amendments. The budget of the municipality of Višegrad amounts to 11.5 million marks.

Councilors of the majority believe that it was necessary to amend the budget proposal, which focused on social benefits without any significant investment projects. In this regard, the mayor was deprived of the right to dispose of 800,000 KM.

After nine hours of debate, the mayor called on the SNSD councilors to adopt the budget with amendments.

For a long time, a real mini-war has been ongoing in Višegrad between the mayor and the majority gathered around the SDS. It culminated in the dismissal of most managers in public enterprises, as 11 out of 14 of them operated at a loss.

- The loss was primarily caused by uncontrolled hiring of family members and party loyalists gathered around the SNSD, which we tried to partially cover from the new budget. There is no budget that can cover mismanagement of money, as the mayor of all citizens is used to doing, stated the municipal assembly majority.

Mayor Đurović had attempted to challenge the legality of the municipal assembly majority in previous months, but failed.
