SNSD without a majority in Drvar, municipality without a budget

DRVAR, (Patria) - The Mayor of Drvar, Dušica Runić (SNSD), has many problems. The municipality has no adopted decision on temporary financing, which, according to the mayor, has blocked all payments from the budget. There is no decision on temporary financing because the Municipal Council has not yet been constituted, and the problem arose when three councilors from SNSD left the party.

"I did not leave the party. They kicked me out because the president Goran Broćeta is bothered by the fact that I won the most votes from 20 places and entered the Municipal Council," Stevan Marić, one of those dissatisfied with the policy of his now former party, told Patria.

Marić was dissatisfied with the fact that SNSD wanted to appoint a person with fewer votes as the president of the council.

"I don't see what's wrong with that. No one can dictate terms to SNSD to satisfy their own interests," said Broćeta.

Had there not been a split in SNSD, this party, together with HDZ, could have had a majority. Now, the other bloc, consisting of SNS FBiH, HDZ 1990, SP, and the three councilors who left SNSD, is closer to it. Marić did not want to confirm to Patria whether he would be the new president of the Municipal Council.

"We'll see about that later. It is important that people who want to work in the interest of the people of Drvar gather. We have nothing against SNSD, but we have something against individuals and the way they conduct politics," said Marić.

The only councilor from HDZ 1990, Berislav Bošnjak, jokingly says it's not his place to solve problems among Serbs. The only thing certain is that HDZ 1990 will not cooperate with HDZ, with whom SNSD does not give up as its coalition partner.

"The situation is not yet alarming as the municipality is trying to present it. The mayor can pay everything for which there are decisions from last year, and as far as I know, salaries are delayed, so they cannot be blocked," said Bošnjak.

SNSD believes that the opposition is calculating with attendance at sessions because they are waiting for the new councilor from DNS to take office in order to have a majority. They believe that changes in the cantonal government, which were made without SNSD and HDZ, are influencing this.

"Very soon, the citizens of Drvar will see that personal interests are behind this. If a majority is formed without SNSD, they will close the doors of Banja Luka and Belgrade because they have no support there," believes Broćeta.

On the other hand, the message is that one should primarily turn to the canton, of which Drvar is a part, and that the mayor and SNSD are bothered by the fact that this time they cannot buy the necessary support to spend the budget as they are used to and to protect businessmen like those who brought suspicious waste from Italy to Drvar. Those gathered around the new majority say that the council will be constituted soon, and it is up to the mayor whether she will have the majority's support for her work.
