(Patria) - A strong earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit the northern coast of California today.
The US Geological Institute (USGS) warned of a large tsunami wave.
The earthquake occurred at 10:44 AM local time, at a depth of 10 kilometers, near the small town of Eureka, the USGS announced.
A tsunami warning is in effect for a large part of the Pacific coast north of San Francisco.
